Are humans just "fancy" robots?

I can see your point and I think is true mostly except when someone is able to access free will. I mean true free will the type that mythologies are made around. Most of us fail at doing this because the reasons you state, addictions and attachments remove our free will. But having said this, it is possible to save energy by avoiding all these temptations and use our free will to brake our fate. this is th every subject of countless sacred texts and mythologies.
