Can I dye a dress Blazer lime green?

My boyfriend is going as The Riddler for Halloween and is planning on wearing a lime green jacket and pants with question marks all over it. We got a turquoise-ish colored blazer from the goodwill and want to know if we could bleach it and dye it, or would that mess up the jacket? And if we can, should we use rit dye?
