Dogs that run a lot, resulting in sore pads. What to do, if anything?

I take my hounds into some rough terrain to excercise. I let them off the leash were it's safe. When they come home, their feet are blistered and peeling to the point of not being able to walk. They have to spend a couple of days recouping. Do I need to do anything for their pads?
